Reporters at the Lexitong herald-leader realized that tape-record interviews are more realiable than hand written notes to counter recounting. But although there is no federal law to bar the recording of phone calls without informing the other party, they dedicated to be up front with all sources; so they can provide evidence of their testimonies and protect themsles against legal actions.
Television journalist must be responsible when using hiden cameras because these tools can cause great harm to others and to themselves. There are times when their use is the only way to tell an important story. Then, their use is only acceptable to expose a highly important and otherwise elusive truth, and also to uncover information of vital public interest.
